NEW DATES FOR NEW WORKSHOPS

2010: 23 Sept, 25th Nov

2011: 20 Jan, 24 March, 19 May

h2oPE (Water Power Enterprises) have considerable experience in establishing community owned hydro schemes. They set up the country’s first such scheme in New Mills, Derbyshire and at Settle in north Yorkshire. They are currently working to establish 3 community owned hydro schemes during 2010 in Bainbridge, north Yorkshire and in Stockport.

h2oPE is a social enterprise, funded by the Co-operative Group, Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and Key Fund Yorkshire. Previous workshops in 2009 and the first half of 2010 were attended by over 290 people from 89 community groups.

The workshop will look in detail at the financial, legal and regulatory processes that all schemes must engage with, as well as exploring the technical issues involved with hydro schemes. The financial details will include grants, share offers and bank loans while the regulatory processes will examine planning permission, the Environment Agency and lease arrangements.

The workshop is FREE to community groups.
